I wish I had thought of this......

A TWENTY-TON whale is hoisted ashore by dock workers after dying on a beach.

The 55ft finback was found by a fisherman in Wismar, Germany.

Greenpeace campaigners dumped the body on the steps of Japan’s embassy in Berlin to protest at the country’s plans to slaughter 1,000 whales for research.

Activist Stefanie Werner said: “If they need a dead whale, they can have this.”

Stunts like that aren't going to endear Greenpeace to a lot of people...

Rather than doing that... I can't even imagine what the cost would be to have the dead (and I hope it was dead when they dropped it) removed, not to mention the odor that I'm sure accompanied the dead fish. I'd much rather know why japan is planning on executing 1000 whales... what are they planning on researching... this may bring attention to the issue - but I'm sure there are other ways of getting the issue out.

These guys, along with a large load of other so called 'activists' are terrorists. Why can't we go to war against them for a change?

They're probably researching the best way to prepare whale meat.

It's obvious - they are so terrifying that the French had to detonate a bomb in secret on their boat and then try to get away in secret.

Terrorists are known by their tactics, not their causes. Much of Greenpeace's over-zealousness infringes into "terroristic" activity. They damage their credibility. They are environmental terrorists.

Actually when I read this I did some searching to see exactly what they considered being so 'scientific' as to justify slaughtering 100's of whales??

Not that I would have personally chosen the approach that did BUT I can see where some circumstances could warrent an extreme attention getting act. They did not harm any animals or humans in the process. Only forced people's attention to the problem. I wonder who ended up cleaning it up - German government? or Japanese embassy?? You can be sure the Japanese officials were not out there cleaning things up. Some grunts from sanitation were likely the ones stuck with the job and how much do you think they appreciate Greenpeace now. I'm sure there could have been a better way to get the public's attention.

I probably disagree with Greenpeace over most issues - but this is not terrorism.

Terrorism, to me, is a campaign of "terror". Activists on buildings, dead whales and so on don't seem particularly scary. Nobody was harmed.

Greenpeace media director Peter Dykstra says Greenpeace stopped distributing the film in 1983, when it discovered the film's "integrity problems."

Greenpeace has tried to silence Gudmundsson, with demands for injunctions and/or damages in the courts of Iceland, the U.K. and Norway. Gudmundsson has spent about $40,000 in legal fees so far.

In many of its utterances, Greenpeace is less an institution dedicated to saving endangered species than it is an advocate of a Big Brother who would run the world the way Greenpeace insiders would like it to be run. This is clearly spelled out in an editorial in the March/April 1990 issue of Greenpeace magazine. The editorial compares Eastern Europe's command economies to the West's "savage capitalism." Mindless of the environmental devastation caused by socialism, the editorial concludes: "From a purely ecological perspective, the two competing ideologies were barely distinguishable." That outrageous statement would hardly sell in the newly freed countries of Eastern Europe, although Greenpeace has recently opened two offices there, but in the pampered West it apparently finds believers.

While many of their stated goals are quite admirable, their ends do not justify their means.
