alright, in order to bring about a few more replies and comments (an improvement over 'none' should be noticeable, I'd think), I will at this stage, commence to instituting a 'theme within my themes', wherever applicable, and ever-ready, to start posting recognizable examples of fan service.

it's not a drastic change, but I will be putting on hold some of my regularly-scheduled updates just to help proliferate a returning audience, that could be maybe hint at, once in a while, that what I provide is actually of "high quality". Anyway, enough jibber-jabbering belly-aching, I'll now start my idea, and see how well it can spread:

How old is your grandaughter again, bobby? If this is the work a sub-nine-year-old, then I'm fairy impressed. All I drew when I was that age was pointy vehicles and throwing stars. Thanks for sharing.

Why is that everyone thinks I'm some kind of cantankerous character all of a sudden?

You have no need to apologize, bobby, and I don't even know to what you would be referring to if it were warranted.

If you are referring to my post-edit with captions and dates, I just like to place context and order to the select images that seem as though they could use them; and if I am fortunate enough to find the original source, I share it immediately, for the benefit of all.

Star Wars Matryoshka Dolls, by Matt Brown

author's comments:
So here it is - the complete set of Star Wars Russian dolls I made for my brother's Christmas present…

I bought a set of blank Matryoshka dolls online and painted them with acrylic. It took several evenings to finish, whilst watching the original trilogy. There was quite a bit of cursing here and there, and the hair-drier came in very handy, but I think it turned out fairly well.

I tried to choose characters that lent themselves to the shape and size of the dolls, whilst trying to think which ones my brother would like best. Darth is roughly six inches tall, Yoda's about an inch.

Hmm. I thought it was you who ffffound mine. I've known about the site for the past several years, my pal bobby, (even though no one has to yet to invite me as a member) but only now, in which I've realized that they do allow their relatively-small in filesize images to be 'hotlinked', have I started to use it again (and actually go through the extra effort to tracking down the original artists).

Luckily, I recognized San Francisco and traced it rapidly to artist Mike Horn.

jetee,

I've been thoroughly enjoying this thread. Some of my favourite images are the pastiches depicting elements of Star Wars in real life -- I don't know why, but they tickle my fancy.

On page four you provided a link to a gallery of these images, which I gleefully followed. My pleasure was dampened, however, upon finding this image:

http://www.fubiz.net/wp-content/uplo...-under-fog.jpg

because it was immediately apparent to me that it wasn't to scale. The AT-AT imperial walker stands at a height of 22.5 meters, meaning that either those freeways are unbelievably short or that is some sort of Hulked out super walker. Neither of these explanations seemed likely and I was forced to conclude that the author had failed basic rigor in not researching this information (which is, after all, readily available on Wookiepedia) and incorporating it into his art.

It was directly on the heels of this mental tangent that it occurred to me what a colossal nerd I am.

I do very much appreciate the time and effort it is you took to address this. If I knew the context of the artist's mind, and how he went about conceiving these pieces, I;d ask him myself. Thing is, I don't redlliy recall who the original author of 'Start Wars' is, nor if he even speaks English, but have no fear: I'll be displaying more from this installation in the future. (I first found the gallery on that French site, and I've found yet another one detailing this work on a Polish site.)

Thank you, again, for at the very least, enjoying yourself with the high-quality posts I have been able to provide, and also, for letting me know that it did, indeed, find a way to make joy / get you thinking. That's the only two things I (implicitly) ask of anyone visiting, is to either smile, or ponder (but, if you'd like to drop a comment or two about which posts have been outstanding as well, I wouldn't mind it).

Also, thank you Cynthetiq for posting, and then posting again the above. I just finally finished reading it (eyes are not what they used to be). I'm not sure if I get it, though: could it be a "true story", and if so, it doesn't really pertain to Star Wars, other than a very random mention of Darth Vader, or is this just another take on how an AU Luke Skywalker would be thinking about, constantly, if he was a young lad right now? Rally confusing to someone like me who enjoys his context.

Yeah. Some of these internet funnies really go over my head in terms of enjoyability / humor-factor, as I inherently go into reading anything on the internet as a "true story", unless told otherwise . It makes it that much funnier, I guess, that I didn't get it, initially; now I'm a part of the "joke". :expressionless:
