Seriously, though, I think the idea of the coffin is too obsessive. Coffins are not for inanimate objects.

Well if you look at it as symbolizing a marriage that died, its very appropriate

For those of us that want to keep the ring around in case our children might want it, its a cute way to have it in a safe place

I would think a coffin is a perfect place of an inanimate object lol Its not like we put live people in them....people being buried are pretty inanimate

Eh. I tossed mine in one of the boxes of my husband's shit as it went past me and out the door when his family came for his stuff after I threw him out.

Sorry Shani - that marriage didn't deserve a cute little box for the ring(s) when the marriage "died". Unless of course it came with its own cremation oven, and then I'd have gladly hacked off my husbands finger with the ring on it, tucked it into your cute little box, and happily cremated it in the middle of the lawn.

That's funny, I feel the same way about putting people in them.

To the OP, I think I'd much rather have it melted down and made into something useful, or pawned for some ca-ching.

Originally I had wanted to feed my old wedding ring to a big dinosaur so it would come out the same way my exwife did: A big steaming pile of crap.

Then I realized that only Jesus has pet dinosaurs... and he doesn't share.

from what I understand (the lady that runs this was on the radio this morning) she is doing EXTREMELY well with this. And just as an "fyi" her customer base is 50/50 on the gender of her customers

Oh, man. I wish mine was silver, then I could have melted it down and recast it as the single silver bullet I should have used just to make sure the damned thing was dead. :cringe:

Mine was titanium. Doesn't work well in handgun rifling. Too hard. Would have had to put a copper jacket over it to create the gas seal.

If you still cared that much about the person to do this... you should still be married.

Or put THEM in a box.

My wedding ring was large, thick and made from 24ct gold. It cost about £800 (so $1,600 by currnet exchange rates) and I couldn't bring myself to bin it.

I've kept it about somewhere - i think it's in a jewelery box - and if my daughter wants/deserves a decent piece of hand-made gold sometime, I'll use this as source material (but only if she knows and my current wife is OK with it).

Viking funeral. Nuff said.
