I think blaming it on porn is like blaming mashed potatos on the mixer.
At least part of the reason is that from a very early age when men learn to masturbate they are doing so secretly to avoid being caught, embarrased, etc so they do so in quiet and it just becomes a learned thing. The good part is that you can unlearn that and get your howl & growl on!
