Can't tell you many precise restaurants, because it's been so long since I lived there. But, you're going to see more variety of Chinese/Asian restaurants than you ever saw in your life, guaranteed; dim sum, too. Cantonese, Szechuan, Mandarin, Hong Kong, plus Thai, Vietnamese and Cambodian (definitely try Cambodian). Ask around for good ones.

Excellent Mexican, Salvadorean, and other food in the Mission, too, and cheap. Ask where the best taquerias are. If La Cumbre on Valencia is still there (I hear it is), go there for burritos. And buy one of their t-shirts. Best souvenir of SF there is. When you see one, you'll know why. There are a lot of Mexican broiled chicken joints, too, and if you've never had that you should try it.
