I must agree, i felt sick and tire of the Tories treating Toronto like shit. It will be interesting to see if Dalton McGuinty sees that and wakes up, or if he takes Toronto for granted also.
The city of Toronto is a net payer of taxes. Every year, we pay 17 billion MORE into the federal coffers than we receive back and 3 billion MORE into the provincial coffers than we receive back.
When you get a guy like Eves and his rural bumpkins just telling us to get stuffed and downloading service after service onto the municipal back of T.O. you get pretty sick of it.
This city needs some investment in its infrastructure (we need more subways, less highways, we need more hospitals, better universities, etc.)
I voted for Harris and company last go round, but this time I did not because of the way that the Tories just felt they could use toronto to finance their pet rural / sububurban projects. I am taking a chance with McGuinty. We'll see how he works out.
It will be interesting to see how he gets along with the teachers. Even Bob Rae (the socialist) couldn't work with the teachers. They would love to bankrupt the province. Can't wait to see what happens there.
What will be interesting is if the federal PC's and the alliance ever get their shit together and unite. One Mr. Mike Harris will be the next leader then. Now that would be an interesting one.
If Chretien was smart, he would hand the reigns over to Martin now so Martin can call an election and win another majority. If the right unites under Harris, i think that Martin would have a run for his money.
