You know that area where your hood (at the end) curves down and latches? Well as you drive it more and it gets older, you pick up bugs and road debris. Over time that particular area will start pitting and paint will chip. On a 15 year old car that will be pretty sever and the front can start rusting (if you live in an area with rain) from the paint getting sandblasted off if not repainted.

If it doesn't look bad, then id say go ahead and put it on. It wont save much, if any, bugs from hitting your windshield, but in the long run, it will save teh front edge of your hood, maybe even as far back as teh fron half of your hood from getting hit by road debris and bugs. I've got one on my 87 Jeep, and dont have on on the 89 Blazer. I can definately notice a difference, and the jeep has more miles.
