the main reasons (aside from the fact that is illegal) I do not touch the P2P is the overall shoddy quality of the files on there. If the majority of the illegal MP3 files out there were at least encoded with
recommended LAME settings then I might possibly consider them for at least a millioneth of a second before going out and buying the CD anyway. The only files I would seriously look at would be MPC files encdoed at standard or above and Flac or APE files, my ears are too unforgiving to tolerate some shitty CBR MP3 encoded through RealPlayer or Xing software.
