Wow, you guys must have alot of free time to dig up all these quotes! Simply enough, the U.S. appears to have been incorrect in its assumptions about the Iraqi weapons programs. Members of both parties were overzealous, but the blame or the boon(if they turn out to be correct) must fall on the current leadership. Congress relied on the information provided to them by the Bush Administration when they made their decision to approve the war and this same, apparently faulty, intelligence influenced their opinions and the opinions of the American public. While it concerns me that many of the loyal Democratic opposition did not do their own inquiries, one usually assumes that the President, Vice-President and the members of their administration are providing truthful, correct information when considering issues of national security. The comments delineated by Molly Ivins are more pertinent since they show a progression from hyperbole to evasion.
