Conclamo Ludus

I am brand new to linux. I've got Red Hat on a machine at home. Now that I have it installed, what are some things I could do to get a good feel for it?

Or does anyone have any recommendations for books for beginners that I could pick up? I don't have any programming background, I am mostly a hardware tech.
