I decided to nix the TTX idea. Sure, it's a helluva lot cheaper than most laptops for its specs, but I don't want to risk having a huge paperweight of a laptop a year from now. Plus, my school's tech support kinda sux (its run by the students that couldn't get decent co-op positions

The store I checked it at is a dedicated Toshiba reseller, plus they have a better warranty plan, and I have a cousin that works with Toshiba Canada that does repairs (ie free repairs
).... he couldn't get me a discount though
The store I might buy it from wants $3099, which is about the average price for the 2450-P40... I'm gonna try to haggle my way into getting a USB key and laptop bag thrown in for good measure. Thanks all for you input though, it was appreciated!
