When i was in college i was a manager at a radioshack and could only get those little recivers to work for about 5 ft with no noise and wouldn't recconment them to customers and the couple of ppl that did buy them brought them back...
I am into the idea of long cables, I have ran them through air ducts in houses and drilled holes in the floor and ran them under the floor. Hardwire if the most reliable meathod but the wireless networking does work ok, due to high speed and tcp connection based communications, so that if a packet is dropped it can regenerate the packet and resend it , but you would have to have a pc at the other end to play the music.
So i would sugest long cables
