marq exagerates, but not much. Let's face it, nobody in the upper levels of government makes any money at their actual jobs. What they get is the chance to mingle and do favors for influential people, so that when they retire from the legislature, they get appointed to some "oversight commission" for some company that pays ludicrious amounts of money and meets twice a year to issue meaningless statements.
Seperating money and politics is pretty hard. They both equate to power, so they tend to run together.
