I'll be on the veranda, since you're on the cross.

I hunt...sometimes I harvest, sometimes I don't. I grew up in a fairly remote, mountainous area running around in the woods. I no longer live in that area. For me, going out and hunting isn't about whether I am "successful" or not. Ending the life of something else is kind of a somber experience. Definitely not the high point of the hunt for me, but I do enjoy the meat, and it is a means to an end.

I love guns, I have a lot of them and I enjoy shooting them as much as possible, tinkering around with them, reloading, you name it. I still hunt and will continue to, but at this point in my life I have a lot more fun going to the gun range or out in the field, setting up targets, cans, etc. and blasting away to my heart's content than hiking all over hell and back. After enough hiking through, up and down canyons, hills, all over mountain sides, other shitty, non-flat, generally unpleasant surfaces, and you're cold, wet, and exhausted, it gets to the point where I actually hope I don't come across anything, because it's going to be a real pain in the ass to pack out.
