I'm sure most companies have email policies that employees have access to, and I'm also sure they notify employees that they may be monitored.

Either way, that's in a business environment. Some companies have been sued for breech of privacy, and so having policies in place have become important. The rules are a bit confusing.

I'm not sure I'd take any chances on a personal level.
