IMHO, the 50mm works fairly well. Dollar for dollar, it's still the best lens I have. The 80-200mm is better, but it's a LOT more expensive.

I get where you're coming from. I use a Lumix DMC-GH1 and while the box lens is fairly impressive compared to most, I find myself usually resorting my my $100 Canon 50mm f/1.8. It produces astonishing results at used VCR prices.
