Amazing pictures. It wasn't all that long ago here in the US when soot and smoke from coal fired furnaces and heavy industry blotted out the sun, rivers were a chemical soup and the air was toxic. China itself is experiencing its own industrial revolution of similar nature, however unlike the same in the US there is well accepted knowledge of the dangers of rampant pollution and there is technology available to contain it.
