It says that all you have to do to transfer items to your device is to connect to it using the Overdrive Console. To me this means that you can do everything from there.
Have you used the Overdrive Console before?
iTunes is actually quite well designed when it comes to integrating with other software, so I've seen. It might be all automatic. All you might need to do is install iTunes and then let each of the two software programs do the work. i.e. Overdrive might do the iTunes stuff for you.
