I get the idea from their ad campaign that Microsoft is trying to position Bing as some sort of contextual search. I really don't see it, though, and challenging Google in the search business is a tall order. Something like Wolfram Alpha might be able to carve out a niche, but you really need some sort of killer feature to make a dent in Google's market share.
The fact that Google is now a verb says it all. You don't Windows anything, but you can Google whatever you damn well please, and usually find something useful.
My cursory pokes and prods don't reveal anything more than a pound-for-pound clone of Google, right down to the apps. Maybe there's something under the surface, but I don't see any compelling reason to change my homepage just yet.
