You can convey a message that is intelligent even if you cannot spell. Spelling is a skill. Many people have a hard time spelling while some do not, but that does not make one smarter than the other. If you were speaking directly with someone you would not know if they would spell the words they use to you correctly but you would know what they were saying.
This is a message board for people to talk. It is not a job interview and is not a school paper that needs to be graded. I am sure a lot of you are at work and don't have time to even be posting not alone double checking for spelling errors.
There are many ways to derail a topic and try and make the poster seem unintelligent and therefore wrong. Pointing out spelling errors is one of them.
If you read a lot of my posts you will see that I point out a lot of the ways people try and discredit someone else. This is a personal pet peeve of mine.
Everyone has a right to their opinion and a right to be heard. You may not agree with them and they may even be wrong. Prove them wrong with facts. Trying to make them look stupid just hurts them it does not educate them.
