It's possible to disable text messaging entirely, but that is a all encompassing block and would essentially make texts sent to and from your phone undeliverable.
Verizon Wireless has an option on their website that allows users to block text messages originating from the Internet. This allows mobile to mobile texting to continue uninterrupted, but blocks those messages sent from their website, email, or other online means.
