Unfortunately that IS what you're going to hear. It seems to be either that, or he gets some help, but you can't make him do it. So if he
won't do it... then you're going to be utterly, completely miserable.
Or...you can find someone better suited for you, who has their head on straight, who doesn't mind you going out and vice versa. That seems a bit more on the healthy side if you ask me.
