The meaning of sex
What exactly does sex mean to our culture?
The function of sex is to propagate the species. Plain and simple.
Nature has provided us with the incentive of a good feeling for accomplishing this (can you imagine how long the human race would exist if sex felt bad?) We have sex for the purpose of making babies, but it has become much more than that. The high felt during intercourse can be addictive, many participants simply can not get enough. Because of this addiction society has built a temple around the very act itself. We use it to sell everything from beer to cars. We dramatize it with T.V. shows and movies. We use it or the lack of it to justify our religious beliefs or condemn them. It weaves itself into the very fabric of our existance. Without this good feeling (orgasm) would it mean as much to us as it does now? Would we still exist as a society if there were no orgasms?
So the question becomes this. Is it's true meaning pleasure? Or is it propagation?
