Healthy skepticism is a good thing.
The several Supras in that competition were all WAY over 1200hp...the actual number for the winning top speed Supra is over 1500whp. The official site of the Texas Mile, which is a well organized, fully sanctioned event with a long history and respect clearly shows the facts to support the above; not to mention that if you want to see several other vids of various runs in that event from inside the car or trackside, there are many more all over youtube. Since I frequent other forums where this was discussed in great detail from many perspectives, including comments from many other participants not just the Supra crowd, I am not basing my conclusions on just the above "HRE ad". Also, the Supra has a 6sp trans and the winning cars never shifted out of 5th gear so they still have another one to go if there was more distance in this race. Also, I specifically looked up what speed the Aero hits in one mile and it is just a tad over 220; reason I know that is I also looked up the Veyron which is just under that speed in the mile. As far as spinning wheels, most of the top ten could be spinning their wheels if that was desireable, but it's not.
I'm looking forward to the stepped up competition in the upcoming March '09 Texas Mile. The Supras will also be stepping up their game so it should be interesting.
