I bought my GF a Blackberry 8830 it is a "World Phone" it does both CDMA and GSM but I hear you have to call Sprint and let them know you plan to be overseas for the GSM side to actually work.
So even if you do get one that will work make sure you contact your carrier and let them know so you can get it working correctly.
