Is your computer being a real flake lately? It sure is.
Do you have removable devices plugged into USB ports? I sure do.
Is there something missing from your XP task bar? You betcha.
Do you need to remove those devices but can't seem to figure out how to remove them safely? How did you know?!
I am not a mind reader. No. Today's problem is: the Safely Remove Hardware Icon is missing from my task bar!
I found this guide
here- from Ask Leo: "Safely Remove Hardware: where did the icon go? How do I safely remove hardware without it?" And guess what, it worked great! UPDATE: I actually finished reading the article posted here and discovered: he tells you how to make an icon too...
I went a step further for you all and made you this icon and attached it in the zip archive.
Here is how I made my link
click to show Don't put quotes around the prompted values in the properties dialog

- Change the "Start in" to "%SystemRoot%\system32\"
- Change the "Comment" to "Safely detach plug-and-play devices cause 'Doze is a flake!"
- Change the icon by clicking "Change Icon..." and navigate to the file "%SystemRoot%\system32\hotplug.dll" (usually C:\WINDOWS\system32\hotplug.dll). You ought to recognize that icon there.
- Click "Apply". You are done!
