Genuinegirly and the perfume guy have a couple of good ones.
Back patting feels hurried and extra platonic, if that exists. Kind of like you're giving an obligatory hug when you'd rather be fishing.
A pat on the head feels like you're just trying to tick me off. And that works more often than not.
