You should consider 'going uncovered' if:

1. You are in a steady relationship with the person
2. You've both tested negative for all STDs since several months after your last sexual partners (some diseases have an incubation period before they're detectable)
3. You are using an additional form of birth control (patch/pill/shot) or you are trying to make a baby.

Getting drunk with some chick who says "no, it's ok I'm on the pill" is a 1-way ticket to herpacephagonalitus (and crabs!)
