It's like my thing about the diamond mafia and the whole 2 month's salary on the engagement ring. spending 2 months salary is fine if you already have a house and a reasonably funded 401k or other retirement. If you don't, you either need a better job or a less materialistic wife because that won't be the last time she expects you to spend stupidly.
