This debate was started long ago, when the top of the line hard disks of the era would send the head crashing into the disk surface like a 747 into a field when power was turned off. That doesnt happen in these new drives today. and wear and tear on powersupplies? well, I dont know about that. Tell you the truth, if someone told me that shutting off my computer wears out my powersupply, I would just nod at them.

. I have a 386 machine that I bought new and I fired that up every morning, and shut it down every night, for the past, well, since it was top of the line.

It still works fine. I replaced the Hard drive though.
Nothing is going to happen differently to your computer if you turn it off every night and fire it up every morning. Believe me. Hardware fails no matter what.
