okay you're going to have to be much clearer than because I originally stopped posting in this thread for that very reason that it appeared that your computer was able to get on finally.
Your computer is not getting DHCP nor is it getting routing information from the router.
Let's remove her computer from the discussion since it does not add anything but confusion.

Have you tried either of these fixes on your desktop? You will be selecting the LAN connection for your Wireless USB device not the Intel device in the picture.
Note your IP address cannot be the same as hers so it needs to be 192.168.1.102
