Well, I had this whole thing typed out on IP addresses and then I went back to read your post and I'm confused.
She's directly connected to the router. You're working through the USB adapter to the same router. You can see each other, but you can't get out to the internet. Did I read that right?
If that's the case, you'll need to configure DHCP on your computer and set the router up as gateway. Control Panel-->network settings / right-click-->properties / TCP/IP--> properties / make sure the "obtain IP address automatically" box is checked.
If that doesn't work, you can always configure manually. Same process just manually edit the settings in the last box to this...
