I'm no expert about the Japanese culture, but from what I understand, it's a pretty repressive culture and every body is expected to conform. Given the situation a person can't feel like an individual who has control over himself or any thing. So porn also caters to people (men in this case) who fantasize about being in control/dominance over something. So the woman is submissive to the man who is in total control of her. Don't quote me on this though, I could be waaayyy off base.
