This is just uninformed. First of all, relating Chinese women to Japanese women is just poor methodology. It's like comparing apples and oranges.

None of the Chinese girls I've been with have behaved like Japanese porn stars. But then again, they weren't Japanese porn stars. There was this one white chick however.....
To answer the original OP, I would guess that it's a fetish thing. I have seen some similar things on the Wayside here that weren't Japanese. And like you pointed out the chicks getting gagged don't seem to be enjoying it either so I don't think it's just the Japanese stuff.
