| No, it is an FN MAG. It is very similar to the M-240 we use here in the 'States.
 
 
 Edit - The Merkava is a great tank, but it'd focus is on crew survivability, not tank survivability. The Israelis were not able to use modern composite or ERA armor on their tanks, so they integrated all of the automotive systems into the armor package. It is an extremely good tank at what is does, but I would not put it up against an M1-A2 or a Leopard 2 A6 in the open.
