The Chili Peppers did the Dani saga. By the Way is the only tune I can think of that mentions her by name and isn't named after her, though.
For those not in the know, Dani is a character created by Anthony Kiedis and mentioned in three songs. She first shows up in Californication as a "teenage bride with a baby inside", but isn't mentioned by name. Then in By the Way which is about her (she's mentioned in the chorus as singing songs to Kiedis "beneath the marquee"). Finally, Dani California tells the story of her death.
