Well, lets not overstate things. It really doesn't matter what car you use to get from A to B. However, it's perfectly reasonable for people to fuss over which car they'd prefer to take them from A to B...
The most important thing is whether you can find software to do what you need done. If you can do that, and most people can, then you need to examine which of these applications you'd prefer to use because the
only purpose of your OS is to run software. If you have no particular opinion over the software you need for your purposes, then I suppose you can then question which OS' look and paradigms you prefer but, if you had no opinion over the available software packages for your platform, it's unlikely you'll have an opinion on how the OS works...
