Three hours of straight sex.. I've done it, but it's definitely not something I'd want to do every day. That kind of sex can be great if and only if you go slow and take your time. It's amazing with the right person, but it's definitely not a casual thing.
I'm one of those guys who has a lot of control over when I finish, so I can make it last three minutes or three hours depending on the situation. I generally want to make sure she gets hers before I get mine, but there are times when a quickie is just what's called for.
Personally, I prefer to extend foreplay and keep the actual sex under thirty minutes. An eight hour sex session might include three or four instances of actual intercourse, along with a lot of play and a few short breaks to recuperate (usually consist of cigarettes and 'holy shit' sort of statements). After that kind of session I'm usually done for the day, at least.
I have in my time managed some absolutely unreal numbers that I rarely mention because it's unlikely anyone would believe them anyway. Hell, I'm not sure I believe them and I was there. Suffice to say I've done the whole gamut and can say with confidence that in terms of duration I prefer to be squarely in the middle or even towards the short side, depending on how you want to view it. An hour is plenty long, half an hour is more ideal.
Mind it also depends on the girl. If she comes easily, then it'll tend to be shorter.
