in reality australia only really has one..maybe two world class track and field athletes of late..jana pitman and craig mottram. the rest are really no names to the general australian public until a few days ago, and are usually fly by nighters..like that long jumper a few years back.. jai something...... you know..the guy with the long straight black hair.... yeah him.. we came and went and vanished like a fart in the wind.. i guess my point is proven..
spindles is right..when we are topping the tally in athletics, we should really be asking ourselves if why we are using this stage against mediocre competition. maybe this should be a cause to call for a republic.
if its to never see this type of one sidedness in sport again id vote republic..but then again maybe thats just me barracking for the underdog again.
