Not that i've ever done it, but I have seen a few videos on the net as well as read some stories and I can tell you that those of us who are truly interested in our families well being, we are always on some sort of alert status. You train yourself to be when you have crime all around you. Incidents like
THIS should show all of us that crime is too random not to, but I see that there are those of us with the attitude that theres no need to worry about the randomness. The 'It doesn't happen here' probably sat in the minds of most of those that were killed by 'randomness'.
It would take me about 3 seconds to go from relaxed to alert red. But, you must also remember that I've trained with firearms. I don't just have one sitting in the closet 'just in case'.
