Are they really still using this excuse?
So I was at a family gathering on Christmas, and the topic of Republicans and Bush came up. My cousin, who is in her late 30's, said, "I'm a total Bush supporter. I'm a Republican all the way. I'm glad we're in Iraq. It is our duty to show them that they can't come and attack us like they did on 9/11." I was sickened by this remark. Is that REALLY the republican view? Are republicans so brainwashed to think that the Middle-East as a whole are united against us? I'm sorry, but I don't remember Saddam sending people on planes to crash into the WTC and the Pentagon. I specifically remember a terrorist organization, "Al Qaeda" (sp?), taking full credit for that.
Afghanistan was just a test run for us; for Iraq. The Bush administration was testing to see if we'd actually go for that sort of crap. Amazingly the general (re)public let itself become brainwashed, and they saw that as a green light to attack Iraq under completely false pretenses. And we're still there! Why? I keep hearing: "Saddam was viciously killing his own people, and Uday was a master of torture!" Yeah well what the hell are WE doing there? Aren't we doing the same thing? We're killing Iraqi's, both innocent and hostile alike, and we're even going so far as to torturing them!
I'm really tired of this stupidity that the whole world has seemed to adopt.
Note: I put this in nonsense because:
a) I know the potential this thread has to start a flame war.
and b) The fact that I even have to post a thread like this is NONSENSE!
