Something is completely weird on your system. Let's start your profile over again. Find your profile folder, rename it, and start Firefox again. It'll create a new fresh profile. After closing Firefox, you can move some files back.
bookmarks.html, certainly
hostperm.1 / key3.db / signons.txt for saved logins
cookies.txt for cookies
There are others that are semi-safe, but probably not worth the risk.
