A new wrinkle, they want to interview me at the same time my new employer is holding its company party. I'm leaning towards just canceling. One of their previous employees who held the same position quit them because she felt the pay was too low for a network spot.

I'd still go. Opportunity to see another operation if you can get the manager to show you around, meet people in your same industry for networking purposes, (i've befriended a couple people from interviews and vice versa)
