montana,
there are two modes of wireless play...
1) DSs can be linked in an ad hoc network with other units within their actual wireless range (this is the mode your were thinking of)
2) using the NintendoWifi network, the DS can use the 802.11b signal that almost all wireless routers use. game traffic is carried over the internet via nintendo's free service. you can play opponents worldwide wherever you can find a wireless signal.
it isn't well-fleshed out yet... certainly not like playing an established pc fps our mmorpg. however, it is free and works flawlessly doing things it has used for so far. for the price, i don't think you can beat the value of a ds+mariokartds combo... let us know if you get one.

If you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.
