I see this story, and am amazed by the grace under pressure all of the law enforcement and emergency response teams have shown from the coverage I've seen and read. These are people who may have lost homes and families as well, and are doing all they can to help everyone else. There's only so much a person can do before they burn out, though - Thank You - your efforts are not unappreciated.
The world is full of heros. Situations of heroic stature such as this are rarer. I am moved when I see those who are dedicated to service step up and share the way these men and women are doing. We as a race have a long way to go before we can feel universally proud of ourselves. Untill that day, we can be proud of the heros among us. They are what we can aspire to be, and hope our childrens children will be. I join amonkie in giving heartfelt thanks to the Emergency Response people who demonstrate the best that people can be in the face of unrelenting, grinding horror.
