$3.30 about 20 miles south of charlotte in SC, normally oen of the cheapest places i've seen to get gas, but that has changed...tremendously....

sad story, a house burned yesterday as the firetruck coming was blocked by lines for gas stations running into the street...the firetruck was literally stuck while in sight of the burning house...

Another sad story: my manager has a dodge durango, not the most efficient car by any means, and lives 45 miles away from work..and shares her car with her bf who drives another 30 miles to his workplace...75 miles for a one way trip to work, so 150 miles per day at an average of 18-20 mpg at $3/gallon.. so roughly $10/day for driving to and from work, which means she is working for roughly an hour pre-tax JUST to pay to come to work that day

another funny item: it is now cheaper for me to replace my battery than it is to fill my tank. it is also cheaper for an oil change with synthetic oil that my car uses: mobil 1 full synth is $5.30/quart so an oil change is ~$30 with filter.

anyone know what the highest gas price was during the 70's when adjusted for inflation?
