Well, I've been in Japan for two years, but I'm from Montreal and what I remember is as follows (unless it changed, which I will confirm soon since I'm back in town):
- Stage dances are fully nude (usually 3 sets are danced and the last is fully nude).
- Classy places: you can't touch the girls, but they can touch you / you get your lap dance in front of everyone (she gets on a little stool in front of you) / price of a dance is 8-10$.
- Less classy places: you can touch the girls anywhere, except the genitals / you get your lap dance in a booth (since there's a lot of touching involved, I guess) / price of a dance is 10-20$.
- Really questionable places (usually nowhere near downtown): basically whorehouses / prices vary, if you get my drift.
- Best places in Montreal: Wanda's (my personal fave), Chez Pare (close second and where the Montreal Canadiens go to unwind), Sherazad (top shelf ladies, but might be closed or changed name). At the first two places, you can't touch the girls, but in the last, you get a booth and can touch them. Solid Gold is supposedly good, but I've never been there. "Les Amazones", in Pointe-Claire (suburb) is also a good place with contact allowed.
- Worst places in Montreal: any club with the word "Sex/Sexe" in its name (Super Sex, Caleche du Sexe, etc.).
- Strip Club etiquette: always tip the doorman at least 5$ per person (more will guarantee good seats and faster drink service, especially in classy places). / Never give girls money while they're on-stage or just walking around (they make their cash off of lap dances only - nothing makes an American tourist stand out more stupidly than when he plunks down a loonie on the stage). / Never buy a girl a drink unless she's at the bar with you.
As for massage parlours, just pick up any newspaper and go to the personals section. There're shitloads of them.
