Pure Craziness! - New Motherboard
Hey guys, I've just installed a new motherboard and chip. The motherboard is an ASUS A7N8X-X *has nvidia chipset* with an amd 2.8 chip. This is where the craziness starts.
(60 gig HD, nVidia 6200 geforce 256mb, 1024 mb ram, 2 cdrom drives)
When I start the computer, it begins the boot process. Right before it should bring up the windows loading screen, it brings up a menu where it says that windows is not starting correctly and would i like to start it in safe mode or what not. Any option i choose on this menu ends up in the same situation. Its a vicious cycle!
So I called up ASUS tech support, and they tell me that a fresh install of windows is needed when puttin in a new motherboard. I think thats ok, so I go to use the windows cd as a boot disk. It doesn't work. Every time I set the BIOS to the cdrom drive for the boot, it doesn't do it. It just proceeds to the aforementioned cycle. I've tried a different computer as well.
I plugged in my hard drive into another computer and tried to use the boot disk there. It failed to initiate as well. I read somewhere that unplugging the hard drive may help it boot up with the disk. I tried that and it got to a point where it said that nvidia was booting from disk. It then read that the boot failed because of some kind of media problem, to check the cable.
Any suggestions on this would be awesome cuz its got me stumped!! Sorry for the long message, and thanks in advance!
Cheers!
