Mounting an AMD Atlon 64 CPU with Artic Silver
I'm building my first computer right now and when my mother board and CPU came in I plugged it all in together and it didn't boot at all. Nada. Nothing. No POST, no beeps, no signal, etc. So I RMA'd the MoBo and I should be getting a new one tomorrow or Thursday.
Assuming my CPU does work tomorrow (which is a wild off chance since all signs are now pointing to a dead CPU) would the Artic Silver 5 work as a long lasting set up to use (basically can I just use the Artic Silver and not worry about it) or will I need to check it, see if my computer boots, then replace it with a thermal pad of some sort ASAP?
I'm aware that this will void the warranty on the processor, but it'll basically save me al ot of effort in the end to do it this way, so, any thoughts?
-Sorry this post is kinda hard to read I guess, but for some reason my brain's not working 100% right now, so things aren't quite flowing for me-
