That kind of sounds like the mothman. I'm not too sure though, as I don't know very much about story that goes along with mothmen. I do know that they come to people with warnings about the future and taht they appear humanlike, but have wings that allow them to fly. A movie was made about them starring Richard Gere. Maybe someone around here might know about them though.
